Mark, a Principal, joined Burr & Temkin in 1997, after 20+ years with Yellow Freight System, Inc. Mark manages the company’s Southwest Region including the major markets of Los Angeles, San Diego, the Fontana, CA area, Phoenix, Tucson, Las Vegas, Albuquerque and El Paso. In recent years he has assisted a major LTL carrier with their expansion into Arizona and Southern California, handled a five year search and build-to-suit to relocate a major carrier in the Los Angeles Basin, and managed the disposition of over $12,000,000 in surplus properties for one of the largest transportation companies in the United States.

Prior to joining Burr & Temkin, Mark spent 20+ years with Yellow Freight System, Inc. managing the Real Estate Department which included a staff of ten people and more than 600 properties. His transportation real estate experience encompassed property search, acquisition and disposal, leasing, tax-free exchanges, built-to-suits, presentations and negotiations with planning commissions and city councils, land assemblages and development.

Mark has served as Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary for the Terminal Properties Exchange; Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary for the Board of Directors for the Community America Credit Union and now serves on the Marketing Advisory Board of the University of Missouri’s Department of Marketing. He has a Business Degree from the University of Missouri.

Since joining Burr & Temkin in 1987, Jim has completed sale and lease transactions in virtually every region of the country. Starting with a vision of a nationwide network for transportation real estate, he implemented a strategy of geographic expansion that transformed Burr & Temkin from a one office, regional company to a national presence. He also expanded upon Burr & Temkin’s Less than Truckload terminal orientation to include services for Truckload, Logistics, Distribution and Warehouse providers.

Jim, as Principal and President of Burr & Temkin, is responsible for the management of Burr & Temkin’ daily operations as well as key strategic policy. His areas of expertise include: creative solutions for difficult real estate projects, expertise in portfolio valuations, advising on real estate in bankruptcy and portfolio divestiture, and investment strategy.

Prior to joining Burr & Temkin in 1987, Jim was employed by Roadway Services, Inc. in a corporate real estate position. He has a Business Degree with a major in Marketing from the University of Akron. He manages the Seattle office, which is responsible for the Northwest Region of the Country.

Zachary, an associate in the firm since 1999, provides expertise in sales and marketing research as well as property and portfolio valuations. In addition to his work in the Northwest, he has worked with major logistics carriers on locations throughout the United States. His primary focus has been on large build-to-suit and land search projects throughout the country.

Zachary handles all types of real estate transactions throughout the Northwest Region of the country. During his time with the company, he has helped expand the annual sales of the Northwest Region and become a key member of the nationwide marketing team. He has a Business Degree in Finance from Washington State University.

Richard is a founding member of Burr & Temkin and has had a close association with it ever since. He has over 30 years real estate experience including development and distressed property experience.

Always one for a challenge, Dick has found some in the world of development.  Noteworthy projects include a 43-acres industrial park built on a cleaned up site in Renton, WA and a 3-story townhouse community in West Sacrament constructed with factory modules.  Both projects involved considerable regulatory and permitting hurdles.

He has a Degree from the University of Michigan, as well as a Juris Doctor from George Washington University.
